Is 680 a Good Credit Score for Renting a House or Apartment?

680: Good, Bad or Average?
Credit scores range from 300 to 850. The average score falls between 680 and 700. Your score is based on several factors, including your history of paying bills and loans, how much you owe creditors, how long you’ve had certain accounts and how often you’ve opened accounts. Young people have less opportunity to build credit and likely will have a lower score.
Renting
In general, landlords breathe easier when a renter has a credit score over 700. However, a credit score over 650 generally is high enough to win over landlords. It all comes down to your competition, since a landlord may select an applicant with a better score over you. If you’re looking to rent an apartment, you can make yourself more appealing to your landlord by offering to pay a higher security deposit or three months of rent upfront, or by having a guarantor co-sign your lease.
